GenChrist Notes

Pope Benedict's Prayer Intentions

Each month, Pope Benedict XVI announces his special prayer intentions--particular things that he wishes all Catholics to pray for that month. (When, for instance, we pray the rosary and say the prayers at the end for the intentions of the Holy Father, these are the intentions for which we're praying.) Pope Benedict offers two intentions every month, one general, and one for a particular Catholic missionary activity.

His general prayer intention for March 2010 is "That the world economy may be managed according to the principles of justice and equity, taking account of the real needs of peoples, especially the poorest."

Pope Benedict's mission intention is "That the Churches in Africa may be signs and instruments of reconciliation and justice in every part of that continent."

Study of Revelation

Have you ever pondered how the Catholic theologians explain the meaning of the Book of Revelation. Trying to understand this book on our own can be confusing or, much worse, misleading. Why not take some time this Lent and beyond to join with the St. Thomas Men's Group as we study Revelation with the help of a text by Michael Barber, a Franciscan U professor.

Our group of about six to eight meets every Saturday in the Parish Office building from 7 AM until 8:45 AM except the first Saturday of each month. We enjoy coffee and a light breakfast as we pray and try to wrap our minds around the amazing way our Lord has worked in scripture, in history and in our lives.
