Epiphany TLM, Exorcisms & Blessings
Friday, January 6, 2012
Epiphany is a time of year when the Church makes a special effort to bless homes as well as items that will be used throughout the year such as a water, salt, oil, and chalk. Fr. Bill has graciously agreed to bless St. Catherine House and Fr. McGivney House on Friday evening, January 6th, as well as any of those household items that you bring.
We hope to commence with the sung Traditional Latin Mass for Epiphany at 6:00 p.m. (January 6th is always Epiphany, in the calendar of the Extraordinary Form), followed by the blessing of the items and then the houses at about 7:00 p.m.
Afterward the blessings, everyone is invited to join us for the FMH Christmas Party. We will have drinks and a celebratory spread - please feel free to bring any additional drink, appetizers or dessert.

GenChrist Notes
Pope Benedict's Prayer Intentions
Each month, Pope Benedict XVI announces his special prayer intentions--particular things that he wishes all Catholics to pray for that month. (When, for instance, we pray the rosary and say the prayers at the end for the intentions of the Holy Father, these are the intentions for which we're praying.) Pope Benedict offers two intentions every month, one general, and one for a particular Catholic missionary activity.
His general prayer intention for January 2012 is "that the victims of natural disasters may receive the spiritual and material comfort they need to rebuild their lives."
Pope Benedict's mission intention is "that the dedication of Christians to peace may bear witness to the name of Christ before all men and women of good will."
Marc McCarthy
Congratulations to Generation Christ coordinator, Marc McCarthy, who has recently taken a new job with the Diocese of Arlington, in Virginia!
Fr. Perrone's New Mass setting
After Pope Benedict's motu proprio Summorum Pontificum of July 2007, Assumption Grotto was among the first parishes in Detroit to join St. Josaphat in making available the Traditional Latin Mass. Fr. Eduard Perrone is the musically-trained, dynamic pastor of Grotto, which would be the destination for one of our future Mass & Dinner events, if it ever has a weeknight sung TLM.
This week, the have been good stories in local press (including the Freep), regarding the new orchestral Mass setting that Fr. Perrone wrote - which was used at the Midnight Mass TLM. It will be used again at this Sunday morning's 9:30 a.m. TLM and at January 8th's noon Ordinary Form Mass.
March for Life - SFL Trip
Among the trips going to this January's 39th annual March for Life, UofM Students for Life may be willing to have GenChrist members along for the journey.
--The current cost is around $160 (including $50 for the collegiate conference).
--Those GenChrist members who are interested should email Joe
Tentative Schedule:
--Friday, January 20th: Leave on bus in the evening for D.C. Drive through the night and arrive early in the morning.
--Saturday, Jan. 21st: Free day in D.C.
--Sunday, Jan 22nd: Students for Life of America Conference, which begins with Mass and is open to all. The conference can be fantastic, especially in the area of pro-life apologetics. Or: another free day in D.C. (and would save the $50 registration fee).
--Monday, Jan 23rd: March for Life. As with last year, SFL'll probably try to get ahead of the bulk of the crowd so they can leave early enough to get back before people's classes start on Tuesday.
3-Part Natural Family Planning Course at St. Thomas
Saturdays, 9:00-noon
February 11th + March 10th + April 14th
Teaching Couple: Juan & Karen Perez
