"Whatever you did for the least of my brothers, you did for me."

Join 10 other GenChristers this Sunday, August 28, at the Robert J. Delonis Center to help cook, serve and clean up following the Sunday meal. Four hours in the kitchen helps to serve over 200 hungry adults and children. GenChrist serves there each month from noon-4:30 p.m., and you can join us for a single shift (12-2:30 to cook or 2:30-4:30 to serve and clean up) or for the entire afternoon. Please let me know if you are interested. Thank you! ~Mark Meinhart

Pope Benedict's Prayer Intentions
Each month, Pope Benedict XVI announces his special prayer intentions--particular things that he wishes all Catholics to pray for that month. (When, for instance, we pray the rosary and say the prayers at the end for the intentions of the Holy Father, these are the intentions for which we're praying.) Pope Benedict offers two intentions every month, one general, and one for a particular Catholic missionary activity.

His general prayer intention for August 2011 is "that World Youth Day in Madrid may encourage young people throughout the world to have their lives rooted and built up in Christ."

Pope Benedict's mission intention is "that Western Christians may be open to the action of the Holy Spirit and rediscover the freshness and enthusiasm of their faith.

His general prayer intention for September 2011 is "that all teachers may know how to communicate love of the truth and instill authentic moral and spiritual values."

Pope Benedict's mission intention is "that the Christian communities of Asia may proclaim the Gospel with fervor, witnessing to its beauty with the joy of faith."

SCH Notes
St. Catherine House, the women's house of discernment next to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, now has openings for the 2011/2012 academic year. The house is open to female college students (sophomores through graduate students) and young professionals who seek a deeper relationship with the Lord. The house’s chapel hosts the Blessed Sacrament, monthly Mass and other community prayer. Spiritual direction, community life, exposure to women's religious communities and prayer are all essential elements of life in the house. If you are interested in living at SCH, you are invited to contact us to set up a tour and talk to current residents. Applications and refreshments will be available. Bring a friend!
