St. Catherine of Siena
Whatever day you mark her feast (OF: April 29th; EF: April 30th), this year, St. Catherine surrenders her liturgical commemoration in favor of the Octave celebration of Our Lord's resurrection.
We are taking our normal Wednesday night social to celebrate the feast day a few days early. After Parish Life night we will gather (hopefully outside at FMH) for ice cream to honor the patron saint of the women of St. Catherine House.

There Be Dragons
"Every Saint has a past"
Trailer
"Set during the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War (1930's), Dragons tells the story of two childhood friends who became separated during the political conflict to find themselves on opposite sides as war erupts. One - Josemaria Escriva - chooses the path of peace and becomes a priest while the other chooses the life of a soldier driven by jealousy and revenge. Each will struggle to find the power of forgiveness over the forces that tore their lives and friendship apart."
It will show at the Rave Theater over four days at the beginning of May. Buy your tickets here, you cannot necessarily get them at the theater.
One group of GenChrist members will be going on Thursday, May 5th - facebook. Another group will be going on Friday, May 6th with some probability of coming together for a party at FMH afterward - email if interested.

Octave of Easter
According to Christian liturgical usage, an "Octave" is a period of eight days over which a major religious feast is celebrated. (New Advent)
In the calendar of the Ordinary Form, Easter and Christmas are celebrated with Octaves. During an Octave, all of the Masses celebrated relate to each other and may have many of the same readings and prayers. For example, during the Octave of Easter, the Easter Sequence, Victimae Paschali ("To the Paschal Victim"), may be sung before the Gospel on each of the eight days. (CatholicCulture translation and explanation)
A Gregorian chant version may be heard here. (score)
A YouTube organ supported version, reputedly from Notre Dame (Paris)
During this week of celebration, it is good that Latin Catholics meet each other with some variation on the Paschal Greeting:
Christ is Risen, alleluia! - Truly He is Risen, alleluia!
Surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia! ("The Lord is risen indeed!") - Et apparuit Simoni, alleluia! ("And hath appeared unto Simon!")
Khristós Anésti! ("Christ is risen!") - Alithós Anésti! ("Truly, He is Risen!)
Christus resurrexit! - Resurrexit sicut dixit, alleluia! ("Risen, as He said!")
