Fish is allowed. Traditionally, the laws of abstinence apply to all aged 7 and over, but the new Code of Canon Law applies it to all who have completed their 14th year.<br><br> "Fasting" is the taking of only one full meal and two smaller meals that don't equal the large one meal. No eating between meals is allowed, but water, milk tea, coffee, and juices are OK. Meat is allowed at the full meal (assuming abstience isn't also expected on a given day). Traditionally, everyone over 21 years of age and under 59 years of age is bound to observe the law of fast on fasting days; but the present Code of Canon Law sets the ages of 18 and 59 as the limits.<br><br> <span style="font-family:Palatino Linotype; font-size:14pt; text-align:left"> For the purposes of this pilgrimage, a "Gatorade fast" means that we will encourage not-snacking between (mostly small) meals but will seek to keep everyone functional for the duration of the pilgrimage with Gatorade and Gatrorade-like beverages.<br><br> <span style="font-family:Palatino Linotype; font-size:18pt; text-align:left">Partying<br><br> <span style="font-family:Palatino Linotype; font-size:14pt; text-align:left"> The Solemnity of the Assumption is one of the major <b>feasts</b> of the Church year. Following vespers and the vigil Mass, we plan to observe that <b>feast</b> and the end of the pilgrimage with a major young adult cook-out and party with a bonfire and music!<br><br> <span style="font-family:Palatino Linotype; font-size:18pt; text-align:left">Other Devotional details<br><br> <span style="font-family:Palatino Linotype; font-size:12pt; text-align:left"> The Divine Office: We plan to pray at least Lauds ("Morning Prayer"), Vespers ("Evening Prayer") and Compline ("Night Prayer") together on each day of the pilgrimage. Indeed, if details can be worked out, we hope to sing these and other "hours" of the Divine Office during breaks along the way.<br><br> Mass: On Friday, we anticipate the pilgrimage starting with an Ordinary Form Mass at Camp De Sales. Saturday morning, daily Mass may be celebrated according to the Extraordinary Form (either in Our Lady of Fatima, Michigan Center, or at our camping field / gathering site) - if you would be willing to help with music for this possible Mass, please let us know. Saturday evening, the pilgrimage will conclude with the parish vigil Mass at Queen of the Miraculous Medal parish, Jackson.<br><br> Rosary: As it happens, this pilgrimage is scheduled almost exactly one year before World Youth Day 2011 is set to kick-off in Madrid, Spain.
