Pilgrimage for Priests
A walk of prayer from St. Andrew, Saline,
to St. Thomas the Apostle, Ann Arbor

On Saturday, October 10, 2009, a group of pilgrims set out from St. Andrew, Saline - the parish to which Fr. Chas was assigned as of July 1, 2009 - and walked and prayed for priests as we traveled a pilgrimage route to St. Thomas. In addition to our past, present and future priests, we also prayed for a greater respect for life in our nation and throughout the world.

At the request of the pilgrims, Bishop Boyea had extended the plenary indulgence Visitatio ecclesiae paroecialis ("Visiting a Parish Church") to those faithful of the Diocese of Lansing who devoutly visited St. Thomas the Apostle on October 10, 2009, and recited the Lord's Prayer and the Creed, and satisfied the other requirements of a plenary indulgence (sacramental confession & prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father).

A focus of the pilgrimage was joining our priests in the prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours (Saturday, Ordinary Time, Week III) and we were able to pray four of the canonical hours of the day. In addition, Kevin Spizarny joined us and lead us in song along the way.
