The program for evening prayer can be found here.
For evening prayer, we will sing the psalms according to the psalm tones provided. In the included musical notation, the hollow notes indicate the reciting tone, the tone used for most of the syllables on each line. The solid notes indicate the concluding tone(s). In the music, the singer transitions from the reciting tone to the concluding tones on the syllable marked in italics. If there are more concluding syllables than concluding notes, the additional syllables are sung on the last concluding note shown.
If you would like to familiarize yourself with how they sound, visit the page set up for the Mundelein Psalter. The tones can most easily be listened to in the right column of the second table.
The (Latin) formulae for the blessings / exorcisms of water, salt, oil, chalk and houses are taken from the 1961 Rituale Romanum and are used in accordance with Article IX of Pope Benedict XVI’s Summorum Pontificum. (Unofficial) English translations of the blessings / exorcisms are provided from Fr. Philip T. Weller’s The Blessings (1946).
